Carl & Susan Get Married
November 29th, 2006
Susan & I got married in a small civil ceremony in Kampala. Present were two of Susan's friends, Irene & Immaculate, as witnesses. Victor and Junior helped us out by taking pictures.

The day went something like this:

We wake up early and have tea, Susan's friend Irene, had stayed over the night before so they start work on the makeup. I look dashing in my new suit that Susan has bought for me. I tell Susan that she gets one shot at seeing me in a suit and this is it! Susan has on an Indian style dress as she wants something that she can wear long after the wedding rather than a one shot gown. Susan looks beautiful as usual.

Irene puts the finishing touches on Susan's face

We give a call to the registrar to double check that he is expecting us. Of couse he has no idea who we are or that we are coming, turns out they lost all our paperwork and he didn't bother putting us in his calendar as promised! Susan frantically starts calling the guy in charge of our paperwork (who we had already given more than a little "extra" cash to smooth things along, that was money well spent). We now have to come in an extra half hour early to re-fill out all the paperwork.

We pile in the car and head for the photo studio. We get a couple pictures done to commemorate the occasion and off we rush to the registrars office.

After filling out the new paperwork, we get ushered into a conference room where we proceed to wait for an hour wondering if anyone will actually come in to perform the ceremony.

Finally the registrar shows up, reads a few words from a piece of paper, we read a few words from a piece of paper, he tells us at least three times that we're not allowed to marry anyone else unless we get divorced first. We smooch and ta-da we're married.

The Smooch (well, almost)

We sign some paperwork, and I'm a married man (sorry girls)! We head home, pick up some pizza and relax for a few hours, I'm out of my suit and back into my shorts before anyone can blink.

mmmmm....pizza, my love for you will never die.

We go out to Emin Pasha, one of the nicer restaurants in town where we toast with our sodas and have a good time!

Here's to us!
